The Perfect Training Regimen

Over the last few newsletters we’ve discussed why we should probably be doing a little less high intensity training and little more steady state cardio. We’ve talked about why it’s important to repeat workouts, but for not too long. Now that we’ve got the basics out of the way, I’m sure your next question is, “okay so, how do I find the sweet spot?”In short, well, it depends.. what are you trying to accomplish? What is your work schedule like? How long have you been in this current phase of training? How much are you recovering on a weekly basis? Are you training for something specific? Is it boxing, is it CrossFit or just general physical preparedness (GPP)? What is your nutrition like? Finally, do you enjoy what you’re doing? Generally speaking, it’s important to - once you’ve built a solid foundation of cardio and stability endurance - give yourself a fairly mixed dosage of each type of training so that you’re as well rounded as possible. Ideally you are giving your body - a moderate amount of cardio endurance to support recoverability and to increase the size of your engine - a pinch of HIIT training to make sure you’re able to tap into all of your horsepower - and then finally a good amount of strength endurance to make sure your body is prepared to meet the demand of everything you’re doing. While I’m aware that this doesn’t really answer the question, I’m afraid to say that it really does depend on what’s going on. What are your goals? In order to build a program that will produce the best results, we need to build in as much context as possible. At the end of the day, what’s perfect for someone else will almost certainly not be perfect for you, as we are all extremely different. If you are unsure of whether or not your current regimen supports your goals and if your goals are appropriate, that’s why I’m here to help!Perfect time to note that I’m doing a cyber week sale on my Heavyweight Training Program, which is $50 off of the first month.
